Kate's Profile

After more than thirty years as a first grade teacher, Kate now turns
her creative attentions to painting as a means to gain more enjoyment
from her two favorite pastimes, gardening and travel. Most of Kate's
paintings depict local gardens and landscapes as well as scenes from
her travels over the past thirty years. Largely self-taught, most of
Kate's work is in watercolor. However, you are apt to see more and
more of her most recent paintings in pastel.

Kate has exhibited in many juried shows, one-woman shows, and art
festivals. She won Honorable Mention in the 2005 Sault Area Arts
Center's "Waterworks" competition. In 2006, Kate was co-winner of the
Sault Area Summer Arts Festival's Best of Show award. Her
professional memberships include the Olive M. Craig Gallery board of
directors, the Michigan Watercolor Society, and the Great Lakes Pastel
Society.

Kate's paintings can be found in public and private collections in
Michigan, Ohio, South Carolina, Colorado, Canada, as well as England.
Kate is represented by Sault Realism Gallery in Sault Sainte Marie,
Michigan and her art can be seen at many of Northern Michigan's summer
art festivals, as well.

Kate currently teaches beginning watercolor workshops in Sault Sainte
Marie, MIchigan.
