Kate Marshall lives and paints in Michigan's beautiful Upper Peninsula. Her home on the edge of the St. Mary's River provides great inspiration for both gardening and painting. After more than thirty-one years as a first grade teacher, Kate has turned her energies to painting as a means to gain more enjoyment from her two favorite pastimes, gardening and travel. As well as the watercolors of her own gardens and local landscapes, Kate's paintings depict places she and her husband have visited over the past thirty years.

Kate has exhibited in many juried shows and won Honorable Mention in the Sault Area Art Center's Water Works competition. She has also exhibited paintings with her husband Tom and friend Tedi Selke in a show titled Between Friends. Kate's first solo watercolor show, A Change of Place, was exhibited at the Sault Area Arts Center in June of 2006. In November 2006 she participated in a show called Every Picture Tells A Story at the McCormick Arts Center in McCormick, South Carolina.

Kate's paintings are in public and private collections in Michigan, Ohio, South Carolina, Colorado, Canada, and England. She continues to express her vision of the natural world through the wonderful medium of watercolor.
